eDreams ODIGEO appoints former Virgin Holidays chief to board

Former Virgin Holidays managing director Amanda Wills has been appointed as a director of European online travel agent eDreams ODIGEO.

Former Virgin Holidays managing director Amanda Wills has been appointed as a director of European online travel agent eDreams ODIGEO.


The appointment, announced to the Spanish stock market yesterday, comes just over a year after Wills left the tour operator and retailer.


She is also a non-executive director of new travel social platform talkholiday which launched its China Club this week in association with China Daily Europe.


She also sits on the board of Urbanologie Global, a UK travel lifestyle website.


A spokeswoman for eDreams ODIGEO said: “We are delighted to welcome award-winning and highly respected UK travel industry executive Ms Wills on the board of eDreams ODIGEO.


“Chosen for her extensive professional experience and specialisation in non-flight product, a key business focus, Amanda’s appointment as an independent director will certainly contribute a great deal to the board of directors.”


In the stock market announcement Wills was described as “an award winning and highly respected UK travel industry executive”.


Wills started her tourism career at Airtours, where she became the first woman appointed to the board of the leisure group.


Prio to that she spent over 13 years as managing director of the Virgin Holidays Group joining in September 2001.


Wills was honoured in the UK for her commitment to charity work and was awarded as Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE ) by the Queen in 2014.
