The hotels app first launches on the iOS platform, with Android to follow next month.

It allows users to search hundreds of thousands of accommodation options, and claims to show unbiased results with the best rates.

A proprietary search function puts photos of hotels at the centre of the app’s comparison feature, making it easy to swipe through images without having to leave the results page.

The app also offers tools to aid the decision-making process, such as a map view that shows accommodation options by location and points of interest, a favourites feature allowing users to save options for a later decision, and a side-by-side comparison component.

The app also takes advantage of live room availability updates.

Hotels and car hire director Nikhil Gupta said: “The Skyscanner hotels app aims to make research time convenient and pleasurable – giving travellers all the tools they need, in one place, to be able to make the best choice, confidently and without hassle.”
