Travelport renews agreement with Saudi firm Al Tayyar Travel Group

Travelport has renewed an agreement with of the largest travel companies in the Middle East and Africa.

The multi-year agreement will see the Al Tayyar Travel Group adopt the technology firm’s Universal APO booking platform.

The Saudi company said it would use Traveport’s technology to grow its online business.

“Having worked closely with Al Tayyar Travel Group for several years now, our companies have built an incredibly strong and highly effective partnership,” said Rabih Saab, president and managing director of Travelport in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.

“Both Travelport and Al Tayyar Travel Group have ambitious growth plans in Saudi Arabia and beyond, and I am thrilled to have reached this new agreement that will continue to significantly benefit our respective businesses as well as the regional travel industry.”

Nasser Al Tayyar, deputy chairman and president of Al Tayyar Travel Group, said he was keen to develop the travel and tourism industry in Saudi Arabia and in the global market.

“The group has been working very closely with Travelport for several years and during this time they have become an increasingly important strategic partner in the Middle East and Africa because of their effective global and local customer centric business approach.”

The companies said they would continue to work closely to develop the expertise of travel professionals in Saudi Arabia, and to attract young Saudis to work in the travel and tourism sector.
