Consumers are increasingly using their mobile phones to book and pay for flights, according to travel site Momondo.

The company claims an 89% year-on-year rise in app click-throughs and bookings.

This suggests that 60% of Momondo’s users have the app as a touch point on their user journey.

The firm is responding by revamping its flights and hotels app with improvements to the user interface, design and functionality.

The app claims to provide more tailored and targeted flight and hotel searches, with enhanced filter options such as flight alliances, maximum travel times and hotel chains.

Mobile product manager, Pernille Trolle Brøgaard, said: “Based on our data, consumers are increasingly using mobile apps to plan their travel around the world.

“With the technology landscape evolving at a high speed pace, travellers are constantly seeking solutions that are not only progressive in nature, but at the same time provide a convenient and seamless travel booking experience.

“Our refreshed app will further improve the travellers’ user experience, enabling them to be their own best travel agent in finding the perfect flight or hotel while they’re on the go.”
