Launched to reflect the growing importance of online travel a year before Apple’s iPhone went on sale, Travolution is marking the anniversary with a series of events.

Foremost among these will be theTravolution Summit, for which Criteo, experts in personalised marketing, has reconfirmed as headline sponsor, making it one of our Travo@10 partners.

The Summit will reflect on the progress online travel has made in the past decade and the incredible change that has been seen and challenges this will continue to present travel firms.

The day will culminate with a Digital Masters session led by Simon Ferguson, Travolution founding publisher and now UK and Ireland managing director of Travelport. He will debate the key issues in the sector with leading names from the last 10 years, including Dinesh Dhamija, the founder of OTA ebookers, now part of Expedia following the buyout of parent Orbitz last year.

Further online travel pioneers will be revealed in the coming months.

Other Summit sessions will:

Focus on digital transformation, with a presentation by Sharon Cooper, chief digital officer at BMJ, the healthcare knowledge provider.
Look at the growing influence of new forms of online media in a Science of Sharing talk with Dan Best of Unruly, the video campaigns specialist owned by News UK.
Assess the impact of the sharing economy, epitomised by Airbnb, in a debate led by Debbie Wosskow, chief executive of Love Home Swap, with a panel drawn from the hospitality sector.
Explore the opportunities and challenges of using online capabilities to expand your business overseas in a session with Travelzoo president Richard Singer.

As well as these key sessions, the Summit will also offer four essential workshops on topics related to be revealed shortly.

And there will be the usual focus on travel start?ups with the popular Elevator Pitch session that will see three new travel firms pitch their concepts to a panel of three industry experts.

Lee Hayhurst, editor of Travolution, said: “Over the last decade the Travolution Summit has always endeavoured to provide delegates keen to remain ahead of the curve with vital insight, advice and opinion.

“This year is no different, and the Summit promises to be an agenda-setting day for anyone who works in travel who has an interest in technology and the web, which, of course, today is virtually everyone.

“Travel Weekly Group showed great vision when it established Travolution 10 years ago and we’re proud that it continues to be seen as a brand that reflects the industry-leading position the UK industry has in online travel.”
