The first bookable API has been instigated by Intrepid Travel, making its range of 900 trips available to book live through group travel marketplace TourRadar

The API makes it faster for consumers to book small group adventures through the TourRadar platform.

All of Intrepid’s trips were previously ‘on-request’, where the customer submits an email, web enquiry or telephones TourRadar to make the booking.

Other brands in the Intrepid Group will become available later this year.

Head of business development Daniel Pawlyn said: “As more and more customers want to transact online, it’s vital that we offer the technology to make that as seamless as possible for them.

“This is a great opportunity for partners in the travel space and outside it to sell adventure travel live on their websites, making lucrative adventure travel sales easy.

“We have already seen a great response since launching the API and look forward to enjoying continued growth through our partnership with TourRadar.”

TourRadar’s co-founder and chief executive, Travis Pittman, added: “We are really excited to have integrated and launched Intrepid’s booking API into TourRadar’s Global Distribution System.

“Within 24 hours of it going live, we saw the first instant booking come through. This type of automation is the way forward for our industry – not only because the customer expects it, but also due to the significant efficiency improvements for Intrepid and TourRadar.”
