Thomascook.com domain is collapsed firms ‘most valuable asset’

Domain ‘could be worth half a billion pounds over five years’

An unnamed marketing company has been instructed by a client to make a bid for the Thomascook.com domain, which is said to be the most valuable asset following the 178-year-old travel giant’s collapse.

The Thomascook.com domain has a suggested value of £100 million a year and is believed to have widespread appeal, according to the agency’s boss.

“Over five years, this domain could be worth half a billion pounds. It could provide whoever acquires it with £100 million extra revenue a year from all the traffic that would be diverted to its site from thomascook.com.

“But it’s a perishable asset and will start to decay the longer they leave it.”
