South African Tourism has started a new series of Facebook Live videos designed to give travel agents “insider insights” on the country.

The tourism organisation’s videos are hosted by SAT representatives and broadcast monthly.

Each will focus on one region of the country with a special guest offering top tips on the best experiences for holidaymakers.

A live Q&A will allow agents to ask questions of SAT and the special guest and get instant responses.

A pilot on the Eastern Cape in June gathered more than 2,500 views and the next video is scheduled for 9:30am on July 31 and will focus on the Western Cape with Inge Dykman the tourism agency of the Western Cape, WESGRO, on hand to give sales tips.

Three more videos are planned for August, September and October to cover KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the north west and the Northern Cape.
Tolene Van der Merwe, hub head for the UK and Ireland at South African Tourism, said: “Our travel trade strategy for 2018 has consistently been to ensure that we are engaging with and supporting the UK and Irish travel trade wherever possible to encourage growth from these markets.

“As the UK is our number one source of international arrivals and Ireland represents a fantastic opportunity for growth, it is vital that we work hard to drive visitor numbers from these two countries in order to achieve our overarching global goal of attracting five million more tourists to South Africa within the next five years.”
