Travel start-up TransferTravel.com has appointed former Roomer Travel director of strategic partnerships Bee Dahl as its chief strategy officer.

The secondary marketplace for unwanted travel bookings, which has ambitions to become the ‘eBay for travel’, said Dahl will drive growth through partnerships.

The site enables consumers who can no longer use pre-booked, non-refundable travel arrangements to recoup some of their money.

Dahl, who joined New York’s Roomer Travel 2016, is a graduate of UCLA, University of California Los Angeles and continued her study at New York University SCPS.

Simon Powell, TransferTravel.com founder and chief executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome Bee to the business. Her experience will help turbo-charge the expansion of TransferTravel.com.

“Her detailed industry knowledge will certainly be a key asset within our already impressive team.”

Dahl said: “This is a great time to be joining TransferTravel.com. It is a company with ambitious growth plans, on the cusp of taking off.

“After two rounds of funding, and pent up interest from the industry, this is a company that has genuinely found a gap in the market, as well as a way of helping empower consumers.”

Powell established TransferTravel.com after a relationship break up which left him with an expensive, romantic hotel package to Dubai worth thousands of pounds that he no longer needed.

Bee’s appointment follows on from TransferTravel.com’s appointment of Jennie McLean as marketing manager. She began the newly created role at the beginning of June.

TransferTravel.com has offices in London, the Isle of Man and San Francisco.
