The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has begun hosting travel agent training sessions via Facebook Live.

Its first live module was streamed from Online Travel Training(OTT)’s Facebook page as part of a wider strategy to increase trade engagement for 2018 and beyond.

So far the video has been viewed more than 700 times – and is still available to watch.

Richard Trasler, marketing executive for CIDOT Europe, said: “Demand for Cayman is strong, especially at the top end of the market and for special interest holidays. Delivering our training via the Facebook Live platform is a new way to further engage with travel industry professionals in a way that has never been done before and we are thrilled that OTT are on board with it.”

Sarah-Lynne Rand, senior account manager at OTT, added: “Engagement is key to successful learning, and travel professionals are increasingly becoming more and more tech savvy. Because of this, we believe that social media is a powerful online training resource and provides an innovative and effective method for delivering content.”

The CIDOT has committed to creating a training course with OTT to launch in early 2018. It will consist of five modules outlining the highlights of the Cayman Islands and the benefits to agents selling the destination. All agents successfully completing the modules will have a chance to win prizes.
