Budget carrier Ryanair has extended its partnership with CarTrawler for two years.

The B2B travel technology platform powers Ryanair Car Hire, which connects its airline customers to 1,500 car rental agents in 30,000 airport and city locations in 174 countries.

The partnership is to be further expanded to include additional ground transport services such as taxi and rail transfers.

Ryanair chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: “As part of our Always Getting Better programme, we are pleased to extend our exclusive car hire partnership with CarTrawler. Customers in more than 180 different countries have already hired cars using Ryanair Car Hire, powered by CarTrawler, on the Ryanair.com website, and their industry-leading technology and unrivalled inventory ensures the lowest prices for our customers.”

CarTrawler chief executive Mike McGrearty added: “For the last two years, the CarTrawler team has been heavily focused on improving performance of Ryanair Car Hire, we are delighted to see this hard work pay off.  Innovations such as a complete overhaul of the mobile web platform, and a full integration of CarTrawler technology into the Ryanair app has led to a seamless experience across all devices for Ryanair customers.

“We have seen particular success coming from technical improvements made to our state of the art machine learning based product selection, behavioural targeting and mobile/desktop merchandising functionality.”

Since 2015, customers from more than 180 countries have hired cars via Ryanair’s website. Dublin is the most popular location for car hire, and visits to the site from mobile devices have grown 200%.
