Peer-to-peer caravan hire and RV-sharing platform Camplify has announced that it is to expand into the UK.

A soft launch starts this month, enabling UK owners to list their caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents, static caravans and holiday lodges for hire on the site.

The launch period will be an opportunity for owners to chat with Camplify’s UK manager Chris Laxen, who used to work for Parkdean Resorts, about insurance, hire pricings, breakdown cover, and how to get the most out of Camplify’s platform.

Laxen said: “The response from other industry leaders has been really positive, so watch this space. I am very excited to see where we can take Camplify in the next six months and beyond.

“We’re excited to be expanding into the UK marketplace, with European destinations also looking probable later on.”

Camplify was founded by Justin Hales in 2014 and launched across Australia in 2015. After two years in operation, Camplify claims it is on track to have the largest rental RV fleet in Australia by the end of 2017, overtaking traditional rental businesses.

The National Caravan Council (NCC) says the UK’s caravan and motorhome industry has an estimated 550,000 touring caravans, 330,000 caravan holiday homes and 225,000 motorhomes – which it says contributes more than £6 billion per annum to the UK economy.
