Decius Valmorbida has stepped up at Amadeus to become senior vice president, travel channels.

Previously vice president EMEA for travel channels, Valmorbida replaces Laurens Leurink, who joined Amadeus last year, but is leaving the company for personal reasons.

Valmorbida joined Amadeus 13 years ago as an operational director in Brazil before becoming vice president for Latin America in 2009.

He took on the global role of vice president distribution marketing in 2013 and was appointed to the EMEA role earlier this year.

Amadeus president and chief executive Luis Maroto said: “Decius brings to this role a deep understanding of the industry and the needs of travel subscribers as well as experience of negotiating with travel providers. He is an innovative and energetic leader and I am confident he will drive the business forward.

“I would like to thank Laurens for the positive contribution he has made during his time at Amadeus.”
