Universal Orlando Resort has unveiled details of its new “tech-savvy” on-site hotel.

The Aventura Hotel will be the sixth on-site property at Universal Orlando when it opens in August next year, and will feature in-room tablets that control features such as the TV and temperature.

Additional tech features will include a virtual reality games room and a “dive-in movie experience” using underwater speakers in the hotel’s pool.

Alison Montague, managing director EMEA for Universal Parks & Resorts, said: “The initial response from the trade has been really positive. UK guests have embraced the on-site properties, and with the Cabana Bay and Sapphire Falls hotels offering very distinct experiences, being able to offer something completely fresh with Aventura has been fantastic.”

The details about Aventura Hotel were revealed following the opening of Volcano Bay water park.

Universal also confirmed that its Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction would open in spring 2018 and, like Volcano Bay, would feature a ‘virtual’ queueing system which allows guests to ‘join’ a queue and enjoy other areas of the park before returning.

Universal Studios Hollywood has also announced new attractions, including DreamWorks Theatre, due to open next year, and a Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter light show.

The standalone tickets for the park’s Halloween Horror Nights will include a day in the park and entry to Halloween Horror Nights on either a Thursday or Sunday.
