Direct booking technology firm Triptease has created a new platform designed to empower hoteliers to recapture guest relationships, increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on OTAs.

The Direct Booking Platform: Ilio Edition is designed to enable hotels to manage their price parity through the back end of the platform, while also engaging with guests through tailored messaging and data-driven conversation features on their websites.

DBP: Ilio makes a hotel website “as welcoming as a lobby” and allows the hotelier to showcase their service offering, Triptease claims.

The latest development follows the company recently securing $9 million Series B investment.

The new platform has been named after hotel barman Ilio Chiocci as the company seeks to celebrate ‘hospitality heroes’ who make every stay special.

Triptease founder Charlie Osmond said: “Ilio was the head barman at a magnificent hotel on the banks of Lake Como. He was renowned for his incredible service – within seconds of being in his company, you felt like you had known him for years. His wonderful manner made your stay feel like coming home to a friend.

“Our new direct booking platform is all about delivering incredible personal service. We felt it was only fitting to name it after a hospitality hero who embodied that aim – somebody just like Ilio.”
