Online cruise and ski specialist travel agent Iglu.com has promoted managing director Simone Clark as it eyes expansion into overseas markets.

Clark will become senior vice-president for global supply, and will lead Iglu’s expansion into other markets as well as continuing within the UK-focused business.

Chief executive Richard Downs will take on a greater operational role in the UK following Clark’s promotion.

He said: “Iglu is very excited to be supporting its cruise line partners in their own expansions in Europe and Simone is ideally placed to lead this expansion. I am in no doubt that this will prove invaluable for our future development.”

Clark added, “After 12 years at Iglu, I’m delighted to take on this new role, which focuses solely on building on our strong relationships with our cruise line partners and other key suppliers.

“The role will mean more travelling in the UK and overseas as we seek to open up and sell into different international markets.”

Iglu indicated it was targeting expansion into international markets following investment by LDC last year. The business said it is planning to open up sales in Europe, and will initially look at opportunities in Spain and Italy.

The company is currently recruiting in sales and all other departments for foreign language speakers.
