What is thought to be the first virtual reality room displayed by a tourist board in Europe will be showcased at IBTM World in Barcelona.

The VR room transports users to Singapore, giving 360-degree rooftop views of the city skyline and a fly-through of the business tour – and does not include wearing a headset.

Guests can drink a cocktail created by mixologists from Singapore bar Smoke & Mirrors, while virtually housed in The National Gallery, which consists of two of the most historic buildings in Singapore – the former Supreme Court and City Hall.

Set up by Singapore Exhibition & Conference Bureau (SECB) – a group of the Singapore Tourism Board – the Virtual Reality Room was the first in the world and now it is coming to Europe at the IBTM exhibition, which runs from November 29 to December 1.

The VR room will feature the INSPIRE programme (In Singapore Incentive and Rewards) by bringing group fairs and themed business tours it offers, as well as the cocktail experience, to life.

There will also be happy hour event at the booth on the second day of the trade show with the theme: ‘City in a Garden’.

SECB will be joined at the event by other suppliers from Singapore including Asian Compass Travel, Fairmont Singapore/Swissotel The Stamford, Gardens by the Bay, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Marina Bay Sands, Meritus Hotels & Resorts, One Farrer Hotel & Spa, Raffles Hotel Singapore, Sentosa Meetings & Events Alliance,  Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, Singexpress Travel DMC and World Express Group – and visitors can ask questions of all the representatives.
